 SHOWCASING “HAMRO SAHAKARYA” IN KAVRE

On May 6, 2025, the Center for Dalit Women Nepal (CDWN) proudly showcased its transformative Hamro Sahakarya project in Kavre during a high-level mission visit. The event was graced by distinguished guests including Her Excellency Riinna Reikka Hikka, Ambassador of Finland to Nepal; Patricia Pacheco, representative of UN Women; and Bandana Rana, CEDAW Committee Member.

The mission was organized with the following key objectives:

🔹 Addressing harmful social norms through the power of community storytelling
🔹 Gathering insights on gender-transformative practices at the grassroots level
🔹 Contributing to the drafting process of General Recommendation 41 (GR41) through lived experiences and local perspectives

During the visit, women self-help group members shared powerful stories of personal growth and community transformation. Their courage and resilience deeply moved the delegation. Her Excellency Ambassador Hikka expressed sincere admiration for the women's leadership and the positive changes they are driving within their communities.

The visit concluded with an engaging dialogue between the mission team and local government officials. The Ward Chairperson pledged continued collaboration to eliminate harmful practices that hinder women’s empowerment. Additionally, the local government unit (LGU) committed to engaging men in the change process and will work with the “Hamro Sahakarya” team to initiate Reflective Dialogue sessions in the coming days.
