CAP SESSIONS - HAMRO SAHAKARYA
Under the Hamro Sahakarya project we have been working closely with communities in Kavre to address some of the most pressing social issues through Community Action Plans (CAP). Recently, we carried out three powerful CAP sessions that brought important conversations to the forefront.
In Banepa-4, Nala, we sat down with the Dumo Mothers Group to talk about gender-based violence (GBV). It was a safe space where women shared their experiences, learned about available support systems, and explored ways to prevent GBV in their homes and communities. The group’s courage and openness were truly inspiring.
Another session was also held with the same group, focusing on menstrual restrictions. The discussion tackled the harmful taboos and practices still surrounding menstruation. Together, we talked about dignity, rights, and the importance of respecting natural processes instead of hiding or shaming them.
The third CAP session took place at New Model Academy School in Banepa-10, where we engaged with students and teachers on the topic of child marriage prevention. The interaction highlighted the importance of education, awareness, and empowering young people to speak up against early marriage.
These conversations are just the beginning. Change happens when communities come together to reflect, question, and act. We’re grateful to everyone who participated and made these sessions meaningful.
