Nisha Rai Kasell

Media and GESI Expert

Originally from Kathmandu, Nisha Rai Kasell joined CDWN in January 2019 as the Media and Gender Expert. She comes from a journalistic background, having most recently worked for BBC Media Action as a researcher and producer. She holds a BA and MA in Mass Communication, and studied international broadcast journalism at the Radio Netherlands Training Centre in Holland and received USAID's Health Reporter Award in 2016. She is proud to have traveled to 68 out of 77 districts in Nepal as well as having visited 10 foreign countries.

Nisha has worked as a journalist in Nepali media for over ten years. She has significant experience covering a wide range of subjects and has worked in print, radio, television as well as online. She is widely respected for her integrity, compelling prose and incisive interviews. She has adapted quickly to technology, enjoys a strong online following and is at home in the fast-paced environment of today’s media. Creativity and novelty are hallmarks of her work while striving to present people’s stories with compassion, accuracy, and urgency. She is particularly interested in gender issues, human rights, and social inclusion.
